Held. The Way It Felt

I’m Reece. I photograph weddings as they feel, not as they’re supposed to look.

Before weddings, I spent years in commercial and advertising photography, crafting images around subtle gestures and human connection for some of Australia’s biggest brands. That experience taught me to read a room, anticipate fleeting emotion, and understand light instinctively. Skills I now bring to every wedding I photograph.

Each wedding is made up of its own unrepeatable moments: nervous hands, whispered jokes, stolen glances, and small bursts of chaos that make a day feel alive. I’m there for it all. Some of the time I’m laughing and involved with you; other times, you’ll forget I’m even in the room, quietly documenting your day as it unfolds.

I don’t chase trends or force anything. I care about how it felt. Your friends, your family, your energy, your day, held exactly as it happened.

The Way I Work

I take on only a handful of weddings each year so I can give each day my full focus. I do it for the joy of capturing real love and the energy of a wedding day, with the freedom to document each story in a way commercial work rarely allows.

  1. Are We A Match?

Before anything else, our first chat is to see if we’re a good fit. We’ll talk about your story, your plans, what matters most to you, and the kind of energy you want for the day. If we decide to move forward, booking is simple.

In the weeks leading up to the wedding, I’ll send a short questionnaire to learn the flow of your day and who’s who, and to make sure everything feels clear and manageable.

Engagement sessions are available as a warm-up if you’d like to get comfortable in front of the camera and capture some relaxed, natural images.

2. Story In Motion

On the wedding day, I read the energy of the room and match my tone to it, keeping things relaxed, playful, or calm as the moment requires. I move through the day anticipating moments before they happen, capturing candid, reportage imagery: bursts of laughter, fleeting glances, hands brushing together, movement in the background, and the small chaos that makes a day feel alive.

I document the day with an observational, story-driven approach. I only step in to direct during portraits or if there’s an incredible patch of light. Nothing intimidating, it’s like I’m just hanging out with a camera.

Throughout the day, you might see me chatting, laughing, and moving among your guests, helping people relax and reveal genuine moments so the images feel natural, warm, and full of life. Most of the time I’m invisible, quietly capturing the flow of the day while creating images rich in movement, energy, and personality.

3. Editing & Storytelling

After the wedding, I cull and curate with intent. Small moments, big moments, and the people who mattered, all distilled into a story that reflects the day.

The gallery is concise but full. No filler, no “minimum shots per hour,” and not hundreds of near-duplicates. You get the frames with presence, emotion, and weight, plus the group photos that matter to the family.

Each image earns its place. The edit stays clean and honest, built to last rather than overwhelm.

My Commercial Work

Years of commercial photography taught me to master composition and storytelling, and to understand light instinctively. Skills I refined on set and bring to capturing weddings with nuance and an emotional, cinematic quality.
